Turning Pain Into Purpose
After discovering that the law had closed the door on my own path to justice, I began speaking publicly for survivors and fighting for change.
What began as a personal fight became part of a larger effort to reform Massachusetts law, strengthen accountability, prevent child sexual abuse, and ensure survivors have a path to justice.
Advocacy & Legal Reform
2012: Spoke publicly about childhood sexual abuse and called on Massachusetts lawmakers to act.
2014: Governor Deval Patrick signed legislation expanding the civil statute of limitations for childhood sexual abuse from 3 to 35 years, opening a longer path to justice for survivors.
2015: My case, Sliney v. Previte, reached the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, which ruled that the expanded civil statute of limitations applied retroactively to my case.
2019: After years of legal challenges, my case went to trial. A jury found my abuser liable for the childhood sexual abuse I endured, marking a significant victory in my pursuit of justice.
Today: I continue advocating to eliminate civil statutes of limitations for childhood sexual abuse, strengthen prevention efforts, and hold those responsible accountable.
From speaking publicly in 2012 to ongoing efforts for legal reform, these articles, interviews, and public statements document my journey advocating for survivors and working toward lasting change.
